    Let me tell you a bit about the business i have. my company is into fire extinguisher and safety appliance making. but we were doing the offline business. as soon as i came to know about the apps and websites, i did a little bit of research about the market and the trends. after browsing through a number of comanies i chose techugo.

    Initially, it was decided around $20,000 but then there were few add-ons on the projects. however, they never charged me for it. but the final pricing for the project was around $24,000-$25,000. frankly speaking their sales team was very good unlike other companies. i really liked their services.

    Techugo has recently ventured into mobile app development space. In a short span of time, the company has gained a considerable number of clients from global avenues.

    Bring us an insight of your business/company and introduce your role there. What was the aim behind establishing "Techugo Pvt. Ltd."?

    Techugo was started back in 2015 and my role here involves creating a brand recognition for the company. Right now we are in a growing stage and the count of employees at Techugo is getting close to 120. We have our headquarter in India and offices in Dubai and Washington. The majority of our clients are entrepreneurs and start-ups. Some of our clients are Airtel and BJP (the largest political party in India). Techugo is basically a mobile app development company. The aim was to break the stereotypes about India that it is a destination that offers cheap labor. We are aiming to make India a quality mobile app development destination. We have remained successful in doing it. The numbers are prove to the same. We have also remained successful in getting 80% repeat business from the clients. And the figure is enough to show the quality business that we offer to the clients.

    Please introduce your business model. Are you focused on in-house development or do you take third party services for the same?

    We have got a stringent policy to get a deal prior to closing it. For us, it is not just about closing the deal and to beat the competition, but coming on the same page as our clients are. This is possible only when we talk about their needs and requirements and offer the services accordingly. We also discuss the wireframing and the designing of a project with the clients. This takes a considerable amount of time but our clients know that they are going to get quality business from us that other companies may not provide. Additionally, we create complete invision prototype of every project. This helps our clients to understand what exactly they have to expect from us. When we are ready with all these developments, we get into development phase. The development phase is divided into milestones. We follow agile process to complete a project and deliver the same to the clients. We keep working on projects till the time the clients are not satisfied with our work. As soon as we deliver the entire project to the clients, we also hand over the source code to them. We don’t outsource any work. In case, a project requires third party services, we hire the resources to deliver the work for us. Additionally, if there are some APIs that we don’t work on, we may take third part services.

    Throw some light on mobile app development pricing and how would you define the pricing method to a prospective user? What are the key factors to estimate the price of a project? How would you ensure the most realistic price quote with minimum variation to your clients.

    The pricing depends largely on the kind of application that we are going to develop for the clients. It also depends on the complexity of the project. If I can give you a general estimation of the pricing, it may differ from $3000-$100000. We have successfully delivered the projects that were valued over $100000 and also the ones that were around $3000. So, we don’t have any criteria on taking the project depending specifically on the cost. From my personal experience, I have worked on the project that initially valued $ (20-100) USD and today the business is rated over $100 billion USD. We are developing this project for Australian merchandising. That’s the reason we don’t have any criteria for minimum pricing. Every mobile app has got a set of feature, there is designing, development, testing and web services as well. So, the pricing of projects depend on all these criteria. Designing and development is something that differs from project to project. So that is how the pricing can be defined to the prospective user. The price quote largely depends on the complexity and the number of features in the project. We have got a specific model called TRC i.e. “Techugo Recyclable Component”. Therein we have got customized login codes. The advantage of having such a facility helps our developers save their valuable time. As login process on e-commerce portals remains same, having such a module helps us to reuse the saved login code for a variety of projects. Because of the same, we are able to deliver the services much faster than our competitors that too at competitive cost. So even if a new developer joins us today, he can get the login functionality from our structured library. We have a definite policy, suppose we have given a certain project estimation to the clients, we stick to the same even if we have underrated the project. So, we deliver the project exactly at the same rate as we have estimated earlier. It is only in the case when additional functionalities are added in the project that clients have not discussed at the first place. Only then the additional cost is added in the total pricing.

    What is your ideal project delivery process? How you ensure clients' engagement in the process and with the company all through the development phase? Does your company offers maintenance and support services, additionally?

    We follow agile delivery process and for some projects we have waterfall module. We are very peculiar about clients’ engagement in the project. We do get in touch with the clients every second day. The calls are scheduled at clients’ convenience. Even if the call is scheduled for the night time, we do ensure establishing connection with them. In the beginning, client’s interaction is required for wireframing and milestone development every second day. After that weekly call is done to update the clients about all the developments. We also establish the connection through Skype calls. And, we also give luxury to the clients to talk with every person involved in the project. So our clients can either talk directly to the project manager or the developers too. We do offer four months to 1 year maintenance and support services. After that we charge a minimal price from the clients. The APIs of certain applications keep on changing and it sometimes creates certain bugs in the apps. Thus, to rectify the same, we charge a nominal amount from the clients.

    What strategies you follow to retain clients? What is your percentage of repeat business?

    There is only one strategy that we follow and probably it is followed across the globe, “provide whatever is expected to the clients”. We work day in and out to offer required services to the clients. And, even if there is a delay, we communicate about the same in advance to the clients. So, honest communication and quality deliverable is something that we focus the most while providing the services.

    If given a choice to favor one category, which would you choose as your mobile app development company’s speciality?

    The combination of an application’s design and development is something that we ace in. And, I would be bias if I choose any single category. And, the strongest pillars of my company is the quality code and the method of project delivery that we have. Strong UI/UX Presence that we have for the apps is another exceptional thing about us. So, the perfect amalgamation of design and the coding that we do is the best part of taking our services.

    Give a brief up about your strategies/approaches that differentiate you from your competitors. What are the valuable offerings you provide to the clients?

    We have got an experienced team of analysts. These professionals don’t believe in working like robots but they do thorough research on a project. Every project can be added up with certain feature that we recommend to the clients. We know that they cannot come up with these technical ideas on their own and thus we ask for their permission to add on these features into their projects. We follow this procedure almost with every project. That’s one thing why our clients love to work with us. We have also modified a number of ideas from the clients and they have accepted them wholeheartedly. We keep on asking suggestions from the clients. A number of IT companies focus to the development part only. But at Techugo we have a different story. We have a separate team to look after the designing and the branding as well. The team keeps on looking after the entire marketing and development part. This is something that helps us to get the repeat business from the clients. After a project is completely successfully, it is handed over to the marketing department. They approach the clients and tell them the best practices that can create project success. We also do the SEO, ASO and SMO of the projects for the same reason. The reason is just to make the project successful. So, if the projects are delivered successfully, it automatically translates into our success too. That’s the model that we have chosen here at Techugo.

    Share your long term vision for the company growth. What strategies you are following to achieve these goals?

    It is my second company. I was working with a different company as a founder. We started the company in 2011 but it got acquired by another firm in 2014. That company was getting fundings from MIcrosoft, Docomo, Time groups and certain others entities too. But the company was acquired later and thus I started Techugo. And, if I tell you about the vision I have for Techugo, is to go IPO in the next few years. I believe that we are on the right track. Additionally, I have got the right partners for concreting this plan. And, I believe I can successfully implement the plan in next five years. For achieving the plan, we are creating multiple division in the company. One is monetization, one is marketing, one is analysis department. Combination of all these departments will help us to go IPO in next few years. So basically, we are trying to develop these divisions. If you talk about the technical budget of any client, it is only 30%, the additional 70% goes into the marketing and the branding of that project. So, basically we are working on all these developments.

    What is your take on the current state of the mobility trends? What are your strategies for remaining updated with the current trends? Can you please share the app development/marketing technology that you have adopted lately?

    Mobility is staying there for at least 2-3 years. It is only going to increase in the next two years. After that Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality may surpass mobility. So, we are also planning to offer services into AR and VR. We are already doing a couple of projects with virtual reality. These techniques are going to be the next big thing in the market. So mobile app market may go down then. And, I believe we are going in the right direction. As virtual reality is going to be the next big trend in the mobile app development, we have already started doing the projects into the same even if the costing is very low. So we are ready to do projects at lower cost also, all we require is company’s exposure into this technique. That’s our strategy to remain updated with the current trends. Yes, we are doing a lot of marketing activities in multiple division of Techugo. We are regularly providing SEO, content and social media marketing services to the clients. That’s a pretty great way of doing marketing. And, we are doing everything the organic way for organic growth. And, I believe this classical way of providing services is always going to help you survive in the long run.

    Would you like to give any advice to other evolving companies?

    The only advice to the emerging companies is to just to do the business. Never dilute your offering or services to the clients. And to all the budding developers and startups in India, I would like to mention that unfortunately India is not counted for delivering quality services as European market does. And, thus I would like to suggest the developers to offer quality delivery to the clients. This would take you in the league you would like to be. Talking particularly about Techugo’s business, we spend quality time with clients to offer services as per their requirements. We are continually working to offer quality services to even European clients too. And, sometimes, it gets really hard to convince the European clients to get business from them as they don’t have a great experience in the past. But, for the sake of building the reputation of quality delivery in India, we are trying really hard. India has got some really experienced developers.
